I was walking down the street the other day during the hustle and bustle of lunch time and overheard a conversation between two individuals. I heard one say to the other, “People have a problem with being happy for others. They love it when others are in misery.”
I can’t say I disagree with this statement all that much. I’ve known a few people through my years of living who would get off by seeing you miserable or discontent with life. They would cherish the conversations of distress to feed their own entertainment. However, that doesn’t mean you and I have to live by this mantra. Being happy for others must be a way of life for you.
Celebrating other people’s misery says a lot about people and it isn’t very positive. There is an actual name for this: Schadenfreude. It is a pleasure that one derives from other people’s misery instead of feeling sympathy. It is a diabolical emotion more harsher than envy. It is a reflection of a person’s character and it show cases an internal struggle with self. Do NOT be like these people.
It’s important to be genuinely happy for others and their successes. Not only because it’s the right thing to do but because it’s good for your soul. Taking pride in other’s accomplishments reflects your growth and maturity. Wishing people the best in their lives helps you become more happier in your own life and the feelings will be reciprocated (if you surround yourself with like minded people).
Feeling ecstatic and happy for others will generate your own feelings of happiness for yourself and then you’re going to feel that the Universe is presenting you with everything you want also. Surrounding yourself with positive energy that is flowing freely between like-minded people will create an explosion of desires coming true because the support is real. When the support is real, life’s pleasures will become a reality manifesting itself into existence.
Support your friends, loved ones and anyone who is struggling to be their best selves. Be their motivator to help them accomplish anything they want and while you are motivating them be sure to motivate yourself along the way. Celebrate their accomplishments and achievements in life because that is what friends are for. – Peace and Love
