Love Letter #47

If I had to describe my love life

I would use the 90’s R&B jams to represent my love

Beginning with the indestructible search for “Real Love”

paving the way to my never ending journey for “no scrubs”

fighting a chance to make the “boy is mine” but never

being able to make anyone mine for long

because at the end of the day

they were just all “poison”

saying lines like”I love your smile” to catch my attention

but just wanted to “freak me” all night long

so they could “just feel good” but leaving

me feeling like “that’s the way love goes”

But I’ve been “searching around the world” “all my life”

for a guy to “do me right”

and to tell me, “I will always love you”

but here I am knowing that they were all a “fantasy”

and now I am “back at one”

in my quest in searching for THE one,

telling myself “not gon’ cry”,

then I catch this boy’s eye across the room

whispering to myself “are you that somebody?”

The “Love Letters” Series will be a collection of poetry written for and about love. Please comments below if you’re enjoying my thoughts and words. Some of these poems can be read as “Spoken Word” or a “Rap Song” or with a “Taylor Swift” angst, lol. – Peace and Love
